National adoption and foster care program

In Romania, we trained domestic families who wanted to adopt an abandoned child until 2018 and accompanied and supported them on their journey until the child was integrated into the new family. We also trained foster families in cooperation with the local authorities to enable them to take in an abandoned child until a stable and long-term solution was found. We continued to care for the children in the foster family while working with the family of origin, as the first goal is always to reintegrate the children into their families of origin. In cases where this was not possible, the children were placed with Romanian families for adoption. Since the beginning of this work in 1997, Agapedia Romania has had a waiting list of Romanian families willing to adopt. This service has now been completely handed over to the local authorities, who are now continuing this important task according to our standards.
