National adoptive and foster family program

Until 2018, we trained Romanian families in Romania who wished to adopt an abandoned child. We accompanied and supported them until the child was fully integrated into their new family. But our work didn’t stop here. We cooperated with local authorities to train foster parents so they were able to give a temporary home to abandoned children until they found a stable and permanent solution. We were there for the children in foster families while also working with their biological families, because our priority is to reunite children with their biological parents If this was not possible, Romanian families were allowed to adopt the children. Since the program’s conception in 1997, Agapedia Romania had a waiting list of Romanian families who wanted to adopt a child. This service has been passed over to the local authorities, which continue this important work according to our standards.
