Foster Family Programme<\/h2>

Through our foster family programme, we trained Bulgarian foster families and the foster parents were prepared to take in a child in a three-month course. This enabled abandoned children to grow up in a family of their own and actively helped to close the large, inhumane state orphanages.<\/p>

Twice a year, the foster parents and their children were offered a training camp with supervision, and every other month there was a round table to exchange information. In four other districts, we trained social workers within the state authorities to select and train foster families so that as many abandoned children as possible can be integrated into a family. The foster family programme was fully integrated into the state community in 2021.<\/p>
