The Agapedia teams are active in five countries as independent foundations under national law: in Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia. Samira came to the Esslingen Children's Centre every day as a child and particularly loved the circus and unicycling. While things didn't always go well at school, the circus performances and her skills boosted her self-esteem! Last year, Samira, who now lives in Norway, came back to our children's centre for a voluntary year and was able to pass on her experiences to our current children. Flo came to the Agapedia Children's Centre in Esslingen every day from 1996 until he was 12 years old and was an enthusiastic unicyclist! In 2019, he came back to our Esslingen children's centre as a federal volunteer for a year and taught our kids a lot of circus and unicycling skills. Our kids loved it and so did he and now he's studying social work, cool! Good luck Flo!<\/p>\n

Mariam grew up with her eight siblings in an orphanage in Georgia. After two years at our youth centre in Tbilisi, she was able to complete an apprenticeship as a tailor. In 2019, she came to our children's centre in Esslingen as a volunteer and ran the entire sewing workshop during the coronavirus crisis, making over 1,000 face masks! Calin was abandoned by his mother at the maternity clinic after an unsuccessful abortion attempt and came to our children's home in Brasov. Calin was diagnosed with autism and bilateral hearing loss. He lived with us for five years before being integrated into a Romanian foster family with two children of their own. Thanks to the incredible support of the family where he still lives today, he was able to finish art school and is a talented model maker. You are the best, Calin!<\/p>\n

Jana has lived as an orphan with Agapedia in Sofia since 2005 and studied pharmacy after successfully completing school. Today she works for one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Bulgaria. During this time, he built up an intensive relationship with our management team. The great time at the children's centre left a lasting impression on his life, and so after leaving school he first did his recognition internship with us and then trained as a youth and home educator. Rebecca was abandoned after birth in a Romanian hospital and came to our orphanage where she spent three years before being integrated into a wonderful Romanian foster family. They loved Rebecca so much that they adopted her in 2007. Today Rebecca is 19 years old and studies forestry in Brasov. In order to provide her with the best possible support, she was integrated into a Romanian foster family at the age of three, who gave Roxana maximum support in all areas. Success story of Andrea from Romania: Andrea came to our children's home in Romania when she was 16 days old because she was abandoned by her mother. At the age of two, she was adopted by a very loving Romanian family. Today she is in the 10th grade of a grammar school for gifted children.
